hooray winter break! now i've got time to actually do stuff

H & M shirt, thrifted top & skirt, my Docs.
Lately I've been getting up and going, "Euhh, I don't want to put any effort into my outfit today." So this is the first non-lazy outfit in a while. I was going for general 90's vibes, I guess. Jane Lane/60s revival/schoolgirl witches/alternative rock.

I made these dioramas? Shrines? Moodboards? I don't know what to call them, but basically I emptied two of my bookshelves and arranged stuff I felt fit a particular aesthetic. I have a bunch of other bookshelves, so I may do more with this in the future. Now I just have find a place to put all my books.

I saw The Virgin Suicides (gee, how original) and Girl, Interrupted recently, and so I was partially  inspired by those. Mostly The Virgin Suicides, obviously, but I threw the Wizard of Oz book, the nail polish, and the red Barbie shoes for Girl, Interrupted. The space wallpaper I found in the basement, and the yellow fake retro fabric I found in my closet. The rest is stuff from childhood, thrift stores, or family heirlooms. I think the little girl in the oval-shaped gold frame is my great-grandmother, but I'm not sure.

I was going for sort of late sixties/seventies/ southwestern America for this one. Summery but hot and dry and orange and brown. Like grainy old vacation photos where everyone looks slightly uncomfortable and sunburned and they're standing by some tacky, stereotyped tourist thing.

Happy Holidays!

linoleum and milkshakes

Thrifted shirt and pants, sweater that used to be my mom's, and my Keds.

Fifties decor/greaser vibes. The tripod broke, so my brother took this picture. Thanks, Paul.
I took my dog for a walk today and it was very stereotypically fall, which was nice. Dead leaves and pumpkins coexisting with wreaths and tacky plastic Nativities and snowmen.
Some Ramones songs I've been listening to:

beautiful garbage

Thrifted skirt, belt and shoes. Shirt and tights (which you can't really see) from Target. Necklace from when I was little.

I was thinking of summer- neon, tie-dye, and plastic. Soon it's going to be cold and slushy, so I'm wearing these awesome (but falling-apart) 90's boots as much as I can.  They make me want to listen to Hole and snark like Daria.
I went into a store recently wearing them and a saleswoman informed me I needed new shoes. She sniffed when I told her that they came from a thrift store and said, "Well, I would never wear something from there. You just don't know who's worn it before."

I made a junk box as suggested in this video from Rookie. I haven't done anything with it yet, but hopefully I'll attempt a crown or something similar.

Broken jewelry, random keychains, doll parts, mini erasers, beads, fake flowers, and random stuff from childhood.

I organized it all (minus the doll parts) by color for no good reason.  Ignore the hideous basement carpet. I can't figure how to get it the right way around, so I guess you'll just have to tilt your head.

hello

Thrifted shirt and belt. Lord and Taylor skirt. Walgreens tights.

Hi, I'm Alison, and this is my style blog. I'm a freshman in high school living in Midwestern suburbia who tries to dress creatively. I've been lurking on some other faishon blogs for about a year now, and I've finally worked up the courage to start my own. The name of my blog comes from one of my favorite songs, "Baba O'Riley" by The Who, and the fact that I love puns.
This outfit reminds me of what the host of a kids' TV show would wear, with hearts and flowers and RAINBOWS. This would be the theme song:
